Dancehouse, together with its partners, Harbourfront Centre, National Arts Centre, and Danse Danse, present the Body and Soul performance for the first time in the country. The concert will be choreographed by the Crystal Pite of Vancouver and will be performed by the Paris Opera Ballet.
Following the epic success of the 2016 Season’s Canon, Crystal Pite was requested to create another masterpiece for the 36 dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet.
The Body and Soul performance conveys Crystal Pite’s growing fascination with human spirit embodiment, conflict, and connectivity. This performance depicts the image of the human provision that is vast, timeless, and breathtakingly infinite.
This performance also showcases the theme of grief and mourning as Pite presents the conflicting impulses and urges that challenges unity in society. This powerful ballet dance performance thrives to a vibrant finale without missing out on humor.
